Week 11: CPL 2.0 Twitter
It seems to me it, could be yet another time waster. I suppose people can give out useful information. Such as the tweets the library does letting customers know what programs are coming up and even letting people know we are now closed on Sundays. However I'm not sure knowing that someone is brushing their teeth at this very moment is relevent information. Well at least not to me.
I suppose Twitter could be used to help charities, causes and social issues. Perhaps even help start a movement. I guess only time will tell what kind of impact it can or already does make. Still I do not think I will be come a tweeter. I have a hard enough time keep up with facebook.

Week 10: CPL 2.0 LibraryThing
The site seemed to be easy to use. It would be easy to obtain information about a book that you have read or would like to read. You can get helpful reviews and have great discussions with people around the world about any book you have enjoyed. Also maybe you would help someone not read that awful book you just read. I'm not sure I would sign up at this time and I feel for work I can use other resources that don't cost anything and give me the information I need to help customers with questions.
Week 9: CPL 2.0 Online Productivity Tools
I could see the online tools replacing the more expensive software. Especially for people who can't afford to buy the software. I don't think I would use it that much, cause I don't use outside of work the office applications. Or at least not that much.
I could see the calendar being very useful for a family who is always on the go and have portable devices to view it or check it before leaving home.

Week 8: CPL 2.0 Flickr & YouTube
I find Youtube quite entertaining. I get sent or send content all the time. I have to admit I have not used youtube for anything else but fun, so I don't know how really useful it is.
As for Flickr I could see for the tour that this could definitly be a useful tool. I like that you can use it to edit and add things to your photos without buying software for your computer. I also liked the feature of being able to make your own cards, poster, mugs, calender, etc.

Week 7: CPL 2.0 RSS
It didn't seem to hard to set up. I did however miss the part right away about having to verify the account. I was trying to pick a few bloglines and it wouldn't let me. Than I noticed the verification.
I think certainly it can give you great informaiton fast on various subject. It seems you could still waste a lot of time even if you get the information you want sent to you.

Week 6: CPL 2.0 Google Universe
I really enjoyed looking through the Books database. There were so many books to choice from and it is fun to look through the old magazines. It is a really interesting looking at the ads and articles of different eras and how people viewed their world. Also I think this database could be helpful when students are looking for classic fiction and we do not have a copy available. Most classics can be found just by doing a search. If you have the time it is a useful tool.
What I like about the Google products is that the seem user friendly. What do not like is that I feel they could have more products of interest for all users. I would recommend the product to friends, family and customers if I felt there was a tool of use to them. Otherwise I would say it could be a big time waster.

Week 5: CPL 2.0 Social Networking
I think that social networking sites are popular because we can look into each others lives and see what people are up to. After all, we all like to talk about ourselves and what a better what to do it than on MySpace or Facebook. Also for friends and family spererated by distance or years can now keep in contact with each other. Maybe back before Facebook/MySpace/E-mail people would send updates in a form of a letter of the pervious year events in Christmas cards with perhaps a family picture. Now all anyone needs to do is update their status, share photos whenever they want. Also now if friends and family want to read or look at your pictures they can or not. Plus I like that I can chat with a friend or family member who live else where in the country or world and play Fishville at the same time.
Week 4: CPL 2.0 Wikipedia
I found it was not to difficult to find articles that could be edited for content. Such as there being an entry for the community of Signal Hill Calgary. It talks about different neighbourhoods and shopping centres, but there is no mention of Signal Hill Library. I added a brief sentence about the library.
I'm sure there is many other articles that have grammar, factual or spelling errors. After all, people can add whatever content they choose and they maybe just as bad of a speller as I am.
For the obscure topics, there is a article devoted to CPL, but not for individual branches. I'm sure some of branches would have interesting stories or facts to impart as well.

Week 3: CPL 2.0 Delicious
I have really enjoyed viewing other blogs. It is interesting to see different points of view and personalities. I personally like the names of the blogs themselves. Such as "The Cracktastic Chronicles of Crowista" and "Life in the Tech Lane". Good job to all my other fellow bloggers. I think you have all done a great job with setting up your blogs.
I find delicious not easy to use for a first time user or novice computer user. Even when I'm using the site, I find it takes time to retrieve the information I'm looking for. However it is still a good database to use when it would take longer to just google the information. I really like to use the search box instead of the tags/bookmarks, unless of course I see the specific subject I'm looking for in a tag/bookmark.
